What is a household?
A household in FridgeFlow is a shared workspace. When you're in a household with other people, you all see the same inventory, grocery lists, and recipe suggestions. If your partner adds an item to the fridge, you'll see it instantly on your phone too.
Every FridgeFlow account has one household. You can either create a new household or join one you've been invited to.

Invite someone
- 1
Open Settings
Tap your avatar in the top right and choose Settings.
- 2
Go to the "Household" tab
You'll see all current household members listed here.
- 3
Enter the person's email address
Type the email of the person you want to invite into the "Invite someone" field and tap Send invite.
- 4
They accept the invite
FridgeFlow will send them an email with a link. When they tap "Accept invite", they'll join your household automatically.
Tell the person to check their spam folder if they don't receive the invite email within a few minutes.
Joining an existing household
- 1
Find the invite email
Look for an email from FridgeFlow in your inbox. It'll have a button that says "Accept invite".
- 2
Click the link
Tapping the link will open FridgeFlow. If you're not signed in yet, you'll be asked to sign in or create an account first.
- 3
Confirm joining
You'll see a screen confirming which household you're joining. Tap "Join household" to confirm.
Joining a household replaces your current household. Make sure you've noted down any items from your old inventory before joining, as your existing inventory won't transfer automatically.
Household roles
There are two roles in a household:
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything — add/edit/delete items, invite/remove members, rename or delete the household. |
| Member | Add, edit, and delete inventory items and grocery lists. Cannot invite or remove other members, or delete the household. |
Removing a member
- 1
Go to Settings → "Household"
You'll see everyone in your household listed here.
- 2
Tap the member you want to remove
A small menu will appear with the option to Remove from household.
- 3
Confirm removal
Confirm the removal. That person will lose access to the household inventory immediately.
Only the household Owner can remove members.
Leaving a household
If you want to leave a household, go to Settings → Household and tap "Leave household" at the bottom of the page. Your account will continue to exist — you just won't have access to that shared fridge anymore. You can then create or join a new household.
If you're the only Owner of a household and you leave, the household will be deleted. Make sure someone else is an Owner before you leave, or transfer ownership first.
