How alerts work

Every morning at 8:00 am, FridgeFlow scans your inventory and creates an in-app notification listing items that are expiring within your alert window (default: 3 days).

Alerts appear inside the FridgeFlow app as in-app notifications. Tap the bell icon in the top right of any page to see them.

Changing your alert window

The default alert window is 3 days — meaning you'll be notified about items expiring within the next 3 days. You can change this to suit your shopping habits.

  1. 1

    Go to Settings

Tap your avatar (top right) and choose Settings, or navigate to Settings from the sidebar.

  2. 2

    Open the "Alerts" tab

You'll see a row of tabs at the top of the Settings page. Tap Alerts.

  3. 3

    Set your threshold

Use the slider or dropdown to choose how many days in advance you want to be notified — 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, or a custom value.

  4. 4

    Save your preferences

Tap Save and your alert window will be updated immediately.

If you do a weekly shop, set your alert to 7 days so you can plan meals around expiring items before your next shop.

The dashboard waste counter

Your Dashboard always shows a "Waste this week" counter — the number of items you've thrown out or that expired in the last 7 days. This gives you a quick picture of how your week is going.

Not getting alerts?

  1. 1

Check your items have expiry dates

FridgeFlow can only alert you about items that have an expiry date set. Open each item and make sure the Expiry date field is filled in.

  2. 2

Make sure your alert window is wide enough

If your alert window is set to 1 day and all your items expire in 5 days, you won't see anything yet. Try widening it to 7 days.

  3. 3

    Check your notification settings

Go to Settings → Alerts and make sure in-app notifications are turned on.

Common questions

Can I get alerts at a different time?
Currently alerts are sent at 8:00 am daily. Custom alert times are on our roadmap for a future update.
Can I set different alert windows for different items?
Not yet — the alert window applies to all your items. Per-item thresholds are planned for a future update.
I used an item but it still shows in my alerts. What do I do?
Open the item and tap Mark as consumed. Once it's marked as consumed or removed, it won't appear in future alerts.
